This busy OBGYN group needed a home for their expanding practice. They purchased
a 1 acre site in the Cowan Professional Park about 1/2 mile from Mary Washington
Hospital. The challenge was to maximize the development potential of the site while
still providing ample parking and green space.
Rappahannok Women’s Health is a 17,000 GSF, three story, wood frame and brick
veneer structure and is insulated for energy efficiency. Insulated windows, large over-
hangs, generous day lighting and low maintenance exterior materials all contribute
to a very cost effective structure. Design features include a metal standing seam roof,
aluminum accent panels, decorative brick patterns and a natural stone base.
The building is organized with all patient care areas ont he first flor; all practice support
are located on the basement level with the entire second floor leased in the short
term to a compatible medical tenant and available - long
term - as future growth for the practice.
