Rustic, timber framed dormitory provides year-round sleeping and bathing facilities for staff and up to 46 campers with developmental disabilities. The building design incorporates the use of structural insulated panels (SIPS) to optimize energy conservation, clearstory windows for natural daylighting, and locally grown timber frames. Sustainable design features of the site include reduced site disturbance – maximized open space, tight pollution reduction, water use reduction, optimized energy performance (20%), locally harvested and renewable wood materials, low emitting materials – carpet & paint, operable windows, and daylighting.
