Richard T. Peterson Jr., AIA

Mr. Peterson is a founding principal of Cornerstone Architects and his responsibilities include design direction, building code compliance and over all quality control. In addition he serves as a senior project director on major projects.

His 31 years of professional experience has been in all facets of the work including construction apprenticeships, project architect, production management, new business development, and large project management. Mr. Peterson has experience in a wide range of project and construction types and specializes in health care, hospitality, residential and commercial work.

Cornerstone Architects was founded to focus on offering clients in the mid Atlantic region high quality design services with cost control. Mr. Peterson believes good design can have a major positive impact on the environment and be economically responsive.

Richard K Morse, RA, AIA, NCARB

Mr. Morse is co-founder and managing Partner of Cornerstone Architects. He established Cornerstone’s sustainable and green design studio with their first energy star compliant building in 2002 and is a member of the US Green Building Council. His knowledge and experience with life cycle cost analysis; adaptive re-use and financial analysis for commercial real estate investment have distinguished Cornerstone Architects as a leader in the field. In addition he has provided clients with services to secure State and Federal Historic Tax Credits on existing buildings.  Mr. Morse often gives informational seminars on the benefits of sustainable & green design and has lectured to groups such as the Medical Group Managers Association and has presented the benefits of Historic Preservation and adaptive re-use to the Urban Land Institute. 

Prior to forming Cornerstone Architects, Mr. Morse managed numerous commercial, public and industrial design and construction projects at four of the nations largest architectural, engineering and construction firms; URS Consultants, DMJM, Marshall Erdman & Associates and Fluor Daniel. He received his Architectural degree from the State University of New York, is licensed in Virginia, New York, West Virginia, and Kentucky and provides 28 years experience to clients of the firm.
